Rules Gotcha Tuesday: Copies of spells aren't "cast." That means Rhystic Study won't trigger, storm count stays the same, and magecraft doesn't fire. Your Twincast is sneakier than you think.

Quick rules reminder: Indestructible doesn't stop sacrifice effects. Your Avacyn can't save your creatures from Grave Pact or Dictate of Erebos. Indestructible only prevents damage and 'destroy' effects.

Tuesday rules gotcha: Trample + Deathtouch only needs 1 damage per blocker. Deathtouch makes any damage lethal, so the rest tramples over. Block my 6/6 with five 5/5s? 1 damage kills each, 1 still hits you.

Rules gotcha: deathtouch + trample = you only assign 1 damage per blocker. The rest tramples through. Throw a Rancor on your Nighthawk Scavenger and watch the table do a double take.

🔍 Rules Gotcha: Vincent, Vengeful Atoner's Chaos ability deals NON-combat damage. It won't trigger "combat damage" effects but WILL trigger "loses life" abilities!

Rules gotcha that still starts arguments: your commander DOES trigger "dies" abilities even if it goes back to the command zone. It hits the graveyard first, then you choose to move it. Changed in 2020 and people still get it wrong.

#MTGRules question: I have Cid #CMDR deck. Cid gets bounced to my hand, where I have other copies of the card with the same exact art - because I’m a heathen who doesn’t know flavor. How do I distinguish my Commander from the other identical Cids - say, if I want to cycle one or more of them?

Does conceding count as "losing the game"? My inclination would be no. #mtg #mtgrules #edh #cmdr

Judge! #mtgrules

If I attack with a token while Kaya is on the battlefield and then exile Hazoret from my graveyard, the token can become Hazoret and will still be attacking, correct? It won’t suddenly stop attacking, right?

This is tentative, there might be errata, or changes to the comprehensive rules, or exhaust abilities might just not be mana abilities. But if true this is a totally buck wild interaction. #mtgjudge #mtgrules

So #magic #MTGrules position, but: This drama happening over on twitter caused by a player accidentally* not tapping mana for a spell - I don't know why this isn't handled the same as a missed trigger (IE the opponent gets to make you tap mana for your spell).
