Another reason the STDC and the TVCA need government intervention is that they sought to ransom our areas largest private employer at the behest of the JV partners. They failed miserably but it’s cost the taxpayer £m’s and they barely even note it in their records! #NAOnow

We’ve also lost out on significant returns. The government are failing to hold those responsible to account. “This is a government of service” Starmer declared. Time he and his ministers start listening to the Teesside public. #NAOnow

Labour think we’ve all moved on. That is absolutely not the case. The Teesworks site and the failure of the STDC to safeguard public funds will affect us for years to come and in one of the poorest areas of the country. It is a dereliction of duty to draw a line under this. We need the #NAOnow

We’ve sent in a load of questions about this to the STDC Audit & Governance meeting this Friday. The TVCA governance team usually acknowledge receipt of them. Not this time. The NAO needs to assess the accounts. This isn’t good enough for nearly £1bn of public money.
