Evergreens were, however, coated... greasy deposit of soot, and, as it is not likely ... very readily by rain, it is evident that the ... is likely to be adversely affected during the ... because the stomata will be clogged with soot, ... the intensity of the light reaching the chloro... materially reduced. Some evergreens have sh... usual, and others, notably some of the Escall... patches on the leaves, or the leaves have ... and have assumed a scorched appearance. C... has been sustained amongst the alpin... or less dormant at the time ... information, supplied... respective departments... and Decorative.'
