Kids finished their NCEA mock exams and got their feedback. Some happiness and some tears of frustration. They have asked for a second review of some of the exams. Complaining about grading not being black & white. Good preparation for the real world. Multiple choice exams are not realistic.

AI is great at tasks that don’t require accuracy, “give me a rough first draft” etc. Absolutely invaluable.
Can’t imagine a more stupid and Orwellian thing to leap right into using it for than GRADING OUR KIDS SCHOOL WORK like holy hell these people have no idea what they’re doing 🤦♂️

To me this just sounds like a huge wealth transfer from working class teachers — who stand to be “replaced” (yeah right) — by shoddy inaccurate AI slop “replacements” which will fail 25% of the time
Some of best LLM models have less than a 75% accuracy rate..

With a slogan like “AI will replace teachers” it seems fairly obvious that there will be huge cuts to follow, and massive layoffs of teachers, with all that funding shifting away from working class teachers to American tech companies running “replacement” AI
