Bound Brook seeks first state title since 2020 run was cut short by COVID, as Crusaders travel to New Providence for Saturday morning CJ1 final The last time Bound Brook girls' basketball team won a sectional title - or was even in the finals - was in the 2019-20 basketball season. That season didn't end well, even though the Crusaders followed up their Central Jersey Group 1 title game win over neighboring Middlesex with a state semifinal win over Woodbury. The COVID pandemic was just starting in the U.S., but that game was played, even as college basketball was beginning to shut down.

And out of the 55 selected from the Garden State, ten come from the Big Central Conference, three more than a year ago. The student-athletes are nominated by their coaches, and are evaluated based not just on their football skills, but also academics and community service.

Then, there are the intangibles. Logan Stevens has all of them. He's the Central Jersey Sports Radio Two-Way Player of the Year, getting it done all over the field. It’s been a while since these teams have lost a Big Central football game, and they’ll go into 2026 with long winning streaks The Bernards football team began the 2025 season with a 23-game winning streak against the Big Central Conference. After winning the North 2, Group 2 title in 2023, then reaching the finals in 2024, this year's team suffered a first-round exit, falling to Madison at home, 22-21. These things happen, but Bernards will ride a 32-game win streak against league competition into the 2026 season, with a chance to set the Big Central record.

We'll have live play-by-play of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 final, which features two BCC squads, as top-seed Phillipsburg (9-1) will host third-seed Montgomery (8-3) at Maloney Stadium. New Providence earns second straight finals trip with 28-21 OT win at Hasbrouck Heights No one led by more than a touchdown, and they needed more than 48 minutes to decide the game.
