Some, you'll see at the end of this article. But one in particular got all the hype in the preseason, and it turns out none of it was hot air. Injuries hobbled Aidan Carter last year at St. Thomas Aquinas, which had some of its own upheaval going on around the basketball program after the departure of Bob Turco, who moved on to Piscataway and took the Chiefs right to the county finals.

GMC Boys’ Basketball Coaches name 2025-26 All-Division, All-Conference honorees; Colonia’s Rodriguez named Coach of the Year As county championship week gets underway, the 33 boys' basketball coaches in the Greater Middlesex Conference met to pick their All-Division teams, with ten student-athletes ultimately earning All-GMC Honors from eight different schools, an example of how wide open this season has been in the league. As expected, St. Joseph-Metuchen earns top seed in boys’ GMC Tournament For the second time in three seasons, St. Joseph-Metuchen has claimed the top seed in the GMC Tournament. The Falcons are 20-1, their lone loss coming at South Plainfield, 55-54, on January 27th. The Tigers got the sixth-seed in the tournament. St. Joseph is the GMC Red American Division champ, going 7-0 in the division. And the Week Ten winner is Sam Dech of Phillipsburg! This is Dech's fourth time on the list, and first time topping it as the "Speedster of the Week." Old Bridge wins 28-27 thriller in CJ5 semis at Sayreville on late TD catch by Alsbrook and PAT, to clinch first title game berth in a decade It was September 1994 when Old Bridge High School officially opened its doors, a merger between Cedar Ridge and Madison Central. Seven years later, they made their first sectional title game, falling 10-7 to JP Stevens. They'd go again in 2015, falling to South Brunswick. For the first time, since they are back. The third-seeded Knights (10-1) beat second-seed Sayreville (9-2) Friday night in the Central Jersey Group 5 semifinals, 28-27, to advance to the title game next week.
