Georgia Welcome Station on U.S. 301 south of the Savannah River

The nice young man running the place encouraged us to take a photo with Jimmy Carter. Glad we got to Plains back when he was still around.
That sign has stood along U.S. 301 as long as I've been alive.
Talking about #maps reminded me of our recent stop at the north #Georgia border US 301 welcome station, one of the rare non-interstate ones remaining. I remembered it from childhood #roadtrips. It's a #NationalHistoricSite, which feels weird since it's my age.
