A assess the scene, identify conflict B Breathe, focus, calm, count to 10, ground, remember why you were there C Choose if you will get involved and how D de escalate use the 6 Ds below E escalate only if this will help you reach your goal, you do have a goal, right? The 6 Ds: Direct intervention: Use open, nonthreatening, body language, hands, visible, and empty Use active listening. Lower volume slow movement. Do not touch angry people or police. Use appropriate content, be flexible, sing or chant. Delay: wait it out if that is an option Distract: direct attention elsewhere Delegate: work with a buddy or allies Distance: put space between you and the problem. Document: let people involved know you are filming from a safe distance if possible. Use IG or Facebook live or any app that can upload video to the cloud.
Remember, OUR PEACE IS OUR POWER!
A core principle is nonviolent action and no civil disobedience. De-escalate, act lawfully, and be peaceful.

No Kings - October 18 No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings. 9:00 am - 12:00 noon Conroe City Hall, 300 N Thompson What to expect: • Safety marshals (in vests) are trained in de-escalation and ready to keep things calm and safe. We have been in communication with police to ensure a safe event. • First aid and CPR-trained individuals will be onsite. We’ll have a cooling station and ice-cold water available. • We’re collecting non-perishable food items for Abundant Harvest Food Pantry — please bring what you can to support local families in need! • Fun blow-up suits and great energy all morning long! Free golden crowns for anyone without a costume! • We’ll be alternating between chants and music to keep the energy high and spirits strong!
Some important information: • DO BRING a sign, friends, and your JOY! You may want comfortable clothes, a hat, sunscreen, and water. Bring a folding chair if you need to sit. American flags and other flags are welcome. We are PRO-America and PRO-democracy. • DO NOT BRING weapons or weapon-like objects, drugs, alcohol, or illegal items. We are PEACEFUL assembly. • There will be a Saturday pop-up market nearby. Please be mindful of their space and other open businesses in the area. We must keep sidewalks passable and the market and businesses accessible. We encourage everyone to shop the market and area shops to support local small businesses! • Remember, we do not engage with instigators. OUR PEACE IS OUR POWER. We ignore them or move away from them. Focus on the supportive people instead. If someone is causing a problem, alert one of the safety marshals in the yellow or orange vests. • Parking is available on the side streets. You may need to park a few blocks away. Handicap accessible parking should be available in the public parking garage (entrance at 302 Simonton). Be mindful of open businesses and the market. • Nearby businesses (within 3-6 blocks) have bathrooms. Plan accordingly.
