#Nortumberland Thomas Fordyce gives this weather report in his Local Records for this day in history, 16th April 1837
The Pilgrim path follows the poles. Submerged in the evening - we are cut off for the night. It is hard to express how quiet and peaceful this was, with the only noise being the gentle lapping of water.

A ruined tower, with much of the wall on the left falling away from the main structure, restrained by modern metal supports.
The fantastically wonky walls of Edlingham Castle, a ruined late C13 tower house just west of #Alnwick. By the mid C17 much the buildings on site were being dismantled for their stone. It is free to visit, just off the B6341. #StoneworkSunday #Nortumberland. #Castles

Thick swarms of river flies danced in the sunbeams that shone down through the wooded banks of the River Pont.
