I do #NoSpendJanuary every year to reset my spending habits and let my bank accounts recover after the holidays. My rules are simple: no non-essential spending. I think I'm going to do #BuyBlackFebruary going forward where I can buy non-essentials during Feb but only from Black-owned businesses.

Another week of not buying shit I don’t need for #nospendjanuary. This meant taking water and coffee out with me and being dragged around charity shops by my daughter but not buying anything, plus using up all the food in the house instead of purchasing more. #nospendmonth #frugalliving

A challenge this week: had to take Archie to the vet for an intermittent limp. Had to fork out £31 for meds. I didn’t think twice about that, as looking after a beloved pet is not unnecessary spending. If you are doing a no-spend month, how is it going for you? #nospendmonth #nospendjanuary

As part of my no-spend January, I am batch cooking. I made 2 lots of soup for the freezer: Stilton & broccoli (leftover Stilton & broccoli reduced to 20p) + spicy parsnip. I bought extra of Lidl’s 8p veg with this in mind)

Well, the weather is wild and windy and there’s nowhere open, so it should be pretty easy to spend no money today. I always start the year with a no-spend month, to help recover from the excess of Christmas. Anyone joining me?
