I don't often talk about the inspiration behind my gposes, but I'll start to do so for those interested! This shot was inspired by my fear of the nighttime as well as seasonal depression and my yearly battle with it as the nights become longer as we head into the winter. The lyrics I used in the post are from The Night Does Not Belong To God by Sleep Token; in saying "the night comes down like heaven", I'm hoping to reframe my fear of the nighttime and of the shorter days by thinking of the night as something loving, something gentle, something beautiful. Butterflies are representative of this beauty and softness, though some people still find them scary (like me with the nighttime). Nova's blindfold is meant to represent the way it feels to me like the colder months are like navigating through mostly darkness for a while, both literally and within my own mind. But he extends his hand to the butterflies anyway, accepting them and trying to reconcile; "finding the light" despite the encroaching dark.
