A wooden fingerpost, with two fingers, on a hillside path. Both fingers have a National Trail acorn logo near their tip. To the left: 'Prestatyn, 88 1/2 miles. To the right: 'Chepstow, 88 1/2 miles'.

The shaft has a circular sign depicting a human figure walking a dog, surrounded by the words 'PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY, PLEASE KEEP DOGS ON LEADS'.

A rectangular, red sign lower down the shaft has a map of the trail, beneath the headline 'Congratulations, you are half way along Offa's Dyke Path National Trail. Only 88.5 miles / 142km to go...', and some smaller text.

The hillside is pale green grass with some small gnarled trees, beneath low grey clouds.

The halfway point on Offa's Dyke Path #NationalTrail, near Newcastle on Clun, #Shropshire. The world feels a long way away, there.

#247 Offa's Dyke, Llangollen, 26/08/2025

I like planning walks that work these fabulous limestone "pillows" into them, they are dramatic whatever the weather but truly sing in the sunshine.

8: Brompton crossroads – Knighton (23 km/14,3 m) Montgomery On this last day of (our) Offa’s Dyke journey we were having a bit of a dilemma. As hiking purists we dislike skipping parts of a trail or route. However, the path from Montgomery …

Our last day on Offa's Dyke Path was between Brompton Crossroads and Knighton, via the so called switchbacks in the Shropshire Hills. With wonderful vistas, the Dyke and a beautiful, but challenging trail. wp.me/p93xVa-3w #walking #hiking #wales #offasdyke

On the Shropshire side of Offa's Dyke, it was said that the landmark was a furrow, cut through the landscape on a single night by The Devil. To do this, Owd Scratch used a plough, pulled by a gander and a turkey!

This is the Trothy Valley in #Monmouthshire (where we walked today). #OffasDyke passes through it, and the River Trothy ‘joins the confluence of the #RiverWye and the River Monnow just South of #Monmouth.’
