#mycenalaeiana or orange mycena, discovered at Dundas Valley earlier this summer. The pigment leainafulvene, which gives them their colour has antibiotic properties. Mushrooms are truly magical to me, a new frontier.

Ochre-yellow blob on dead trunk of pine. It has purple liquid leaking from pores visible on the surface.

Immature fruiting body of a cinnamon bracket. #hapalopilusrutilans is a polypore with neurotoxic effects. It bleeds this lovely purple and is used as a natural dye. Found in #hamont. It looks quite alien and otherworldly to me.

Growing in clusters, this strong orange hue is due to beta-carotene. These mushrooms feast on dead wood in temperate forests.
