Macro photo of the head Peripatoides novaezealandicae from ventral. You can see the “teeth” very well. And if the upload quality is enough the structure of the cuticle (better than on the mCT scan). You can even see what I have called the “thingies on the thingies”.
Yet again the same worm. Regular photo this time. I just finished turning the background black. :)
The little “paws” are very cute, but the mouth is terrifying.

Occiperipatoides gilesii, a velvet worm i found in Julimar State Forest NE of Perth, during the BioBlitz this weekend. VERY unexpected, given the Wandoo woodland there was mostly bare laterite soil.

Something interesting I have observed about the local #Onychophora Peripatus velvet worms. They use the flooded areas as a nice fast way to get around. So adorable with their tiny little handys <3 Easy to forget what formidable hunters they are when they look like a childs plush toy centipede.
