A beached bluebottle, blown ashore by the wind. The gas-filled bladder is obvious, and also the hanging tentacle with stinging nematocysts. Although unpleasant to encounter if you're stung, it's quite pretty otherwise.

WARNING look away if you don't like stinging things...

Physalia, or the bluebottle, a fairly common sight on beaches after a strong wind has blown them ashore. They're not a single organism, but a #community of cooperating zoöids.

I found this nice fossil coral (7 cm long, 5 cm wide) while working in my garden. I am pretty sure it's a representative of the class Rugosa, and its age is approximately 400–450 million years.
