Many small apps - or one large?
Teresa Wu discusses whether you want to build and maintain one large app or many small ones. There are plenty of challenges in both directions!
An excerpt from Kodsnack 662, listen wherever you get podcasts or at kodsnack.se!

Kodsnack 662 - A super-super-app. White lines ending in circles spreading out from a white line cutting diagonally across the image. The background above the line is red, below it's yellow.
In this week's Kodsnack, Teresa Wu talks devops for frontend, why it's all so complicated, and a bit about smaller and more open language models.

Found another fantastic talk from #oredev: Pipeline Patterns and Anitpatterns by @raniz.se.
A lot more engineers should see this!

This was my first time at #oredev and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
The nice people at #oredev have uploaded a video of my talk about "Refactoring Legacy Applications The Right Way". Check it out if you're interested in how to approach refactoring applications and avoiding headaches!

It was such a good week last week (except politics)...
At #oredev I did a talk with Jakob Wolman, and so many wanted to see our talk that they were standing and sitting on the floor.
People kept coming up to me or Jakob all exited about it :)
Amd it was so effortless doing it with Jakob.
A room full of developers listening to a tech talk
A presentation about legacy code, showing a picture with a mess of cables to represent a legacy codebase.
A room full of developers listening to a tech talk. The presentation shows the question What is legacy code, with a wordcloud beneath it.
A room full of developers listening to a tech talk
The official pictures from my talk about "Refactoring Legacy Application The Right Way" from #oredev were released today and they're pretty awesome (but I might be biased).
Good explanation of the software dessert and software forest that @bethcodes.bsky.social and @kentbeck.bsky.social presented at #oredev
For any change, it is important to look at our context before we decide what to do. It is tempting to pick good practises, but they may not work in our setting.
Example wardley map from presentation at Øredev conference
Wardley Mapping is something I’ve seen around but haven’t tried myself, so it was nice to see an interactive walkthrough by @davidand393.bsky.social at #oredev. Having worked with more customer-centric strategic processes, it would be interesting to test with even more externally driven factors.
Fancy entry to the Øredev conference with lasers, smoke and music.
Had a nice first time at #oredev the past few days. Even though I had a fever and spent most of the time in my hotel room, the presentations I did see were worthwhile.
On the train home from Malmø. I will be home late, but it was to have plenty of time to get to the train station and have something to eat before the train left.
It has been great being at #oredev - it feels really good to do talks with Jakob, and I had many good conversations about many things :)
Bye #oredev 👋 It was amazing.
I heard great talks, met a lot of nice and intelligent people, and caught up with several friends. Great conference organising 👏
