The panel text that says: ‘A great medieval Hall, with associated kitchen, pantry, and bakehouse, once dominated the southern wing at Oxburgh. In 1775 Sir Richard Bedingfeld, 4th Baronet, demolished the Great Hall to make way for the fashionable picture gallery you see today. The neo-classical interior, designed by the Catholic architect John Tasker, survives intact despite later alterations.’
Lovely visit to Oxburgh Hall today. Lovely volunteers and great storytelling - unobtrusive but just enough to build up the story as you walked around this beautiful building.

It was such an honour to meet this gnarled, ancient Oak at #OxburghHall in #Norfolk this week 😍 Judging by its #tree record & 7.9m girth, it must be around 600 years old - a beautifully tangible connection to the area's past & a vital habitat for many species ❤️
