A roadrunner sits on the desert floor and is puffing his/her self up on a cool, but sunny morning. S/he keeps an eye on the viewer. Some close-up details on the feathers which are mostly brown with white speckles. Usually, one see some iridescence on these birds, but this one sits drably against the sand where one could almost miss the bird--perfect color for camouflaging in this desert environment.

The eye is well camouflaged sitting above a vertical black stripe. There is a second parallel stripe behind it. She has a gray cap and a short, stout, hooked beak. The back is brown with horizontal black striping.
