Came across a statue of the Chinese general Guan Yu in a Thai temple (bottom-left corner).
These little cultural overlaps always surprise me.

Ayutthaya — my favorite city in Thailand.
Beauty lives quietly among ruins.

Sup Terung Dayak (Solanum lasiocarpum) — a traditional soup made from the Dayak wild “eggplant.”
It tastes like a mix of eggplant, tomato, and tamarind.
A dish rooted in the rainforest — sour, bright, and full of surprises.

There’s a big butterfly in this photo, can you spot it?
Take a closer look at the “dead leaf” in the middle.

Walking along the Sarawak River, came across a group of students taking their graduation photos.
A quiet, unexpected moment to witness.

The texture says “worm,”
the taste says “shrimp.”
My brain is still negotiating.

Fried Ulat Sago (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus)

Sarawak keeps surprising me — so many curious things to discover.

Tried a local vegetable today — Paku Midin (Stenochlaena palustris).
People say it’s found only in Sarawak.
It’s a type of wild fern, but more tender and crisp than any fern I’ve had before, with a fresh, grassy aroma. Loved it.

A river of bats rising with the moon.
The rainforest keeps its own kind of clock.

Some people go into nature to feel.
Others only stay long enough to prove they were there.
A photo, a “wow,” and they’re already done.

I don’t think we love the same thing.

I was quietly wishing for a beautiful butterfly.
The rainforest heard me and delivered —maybe I really am nature’s chosen guest. ✨

Came across a wild fruit in the rainforest today — they call it the Mulu apple.
Small, crisp, and a little sour — tastes great.
I love finding things like this along the way.
