An anon once sent me an ask that was along the lines of “Pav wouldn’t homeschool his kids, be for real” And besides the fact that he’s a fictional character and I can, thus, do whatever I fucking want with him, I actually do think he would, purely because of his line about propaganda when interrogating him. Pair that with Karin causing a strike in her class to get her teacher into gear, I think they both would be extremely perceptive to trouble in the schools and would happily take the option that takes their kids out of it #just another instance of people taking pav surface level; what can ya do 🤷🏽♀️ #ignore me #pavrin #homeschooling #funger #probably another instance of someone being anti homeschooling if i’m being honest

ON THAT NOTE! Just because Pav and Karin homeschool doesn’t mean they don’t support the local school. People often sigh when they come to board meetings because they know they’ll have something to say. They’ll ask “Why are you even here? You homeschool your kids, why do you even care?” And they’ll (mostly Karin) will reply: “We homeschool because your schools are fucked up and full of propaganda. Maybe we wouldn’t have to if you did something about it.” They get other parents on their side too, maybe similar to Karin’s party talk of when she was in school. Even when things do start to change, though, they still homeschool, because unfortunately no institution can be as flexible as what Vidcund and Vasilisa need.

When people ask Pav why his kids aren’t in school, he answers that they’re homeschooling, and they meet that answer with judgement, Pav just shrugs, a tight smile on his face. Mentally, he’s cursing them out, or even killing them, but he’s not interested in getting in arguments with strangers. He just wishes they’d leave him and his decisions alone. When the same is done with Karin, though? Woo boy! She starts listing out ALL the issues of the school system, for the sexism, to the bullying, to the poor curricula, to the ableism, ending things off with their endorsement of the Bremen army. She often ends her arguments with “Are you nationialists? Are you fucking nationalists? If not, you might want to think about homeschooling too.”
