The #Seaweed Sisters: “audiences step into an environment of magical appliances, curious creatures, and delightful confusion” 🎭 #PhycologyFriday
🌈🌊🌿 *Mazzaella* was formerly *Iridaea*, which was imho even better 😉 #PhycologyFriday 🌊🦑
For #PhycologyFriday, some (submerged) intertidal seaweeds here in Lekwungen territory (south Vancouver Island). Watching a sunlight dance on the Iridescent Seaweed (which has one of my fave Latin names, Mazzaella splendens) was a real treat!
The rising sun glows through red (*Mastocarpus papillatus*) and green (*Ulva californica*) algae growing on a rocky shore.

Miriam takes notes on our seaweed collections as the sky turns purple-pink behind her, reflecting on the water.

For #PhycologyFriday, another week of surveying herring spawn in Tlai-o-qui-aht & Ahousat territory, west Vancouver Island, with lots of eggs on seaweeds!
With the help of multiple team members, we were able to replant more phyllospadix in one of our new boxes! I know it’s a plant, but Instill think it counts for #phycologyfriday.
