#pjwolfrereads #TheWhiteDragon The bond of a rider and dragon can be very close. And yet, would a dragon willingly kill themselves to achieve some goal their rider has? I do wonder about it, especially with seeing T'kul take his old, old dragon to try to mate with a much younger queen

#pjwolfrereads #TheWhiteDragon Things sure are happening

So thanks to his little egg caper, Jaxom missed in real time the hatching of the queen egg he rescued. A few days later, the rest of the eggs are due to hatch, and Jaxom is pushed to not miss this one. While not saying he stole the egg back.

#pjwolfrereads #TheWhiteDragon This is a... weird book. It feels like the beginning is catching up to other exciting stories. Menolly has ALREADY Impressed her 12 fire lizards, and something alluded to in the previous book has happened off screen.

#pjwolfrereads #Dragonquest So, final thoughts.
Very much a middle book. The first one was starts with Lessa as drudge contemplating revenge and ends with Lessa triumphant as she brings the Oldtimers forward. This one sees a more united Pern on the dragon rider front, but still uneasy feeling.

#pjwolfrereads #Dragonquest And the story ends with the grub project being shown to work more and better, completely eliminating any Thread that fall and hit the ground. F'nor and Canth are on the mend. And F'lar contemplates dragonriders as explorers and transporters or something.

#pjwolfrereads #Dragonquest It's the final chapter still, and I distinctly remember SOME dragon rider going to the Red Star and it not ending well. I don't think they die, but they get damn close and it's a traumatic experience. And I think that's where the narrative is heading

#pjwolfrereads #Dragonquest So we're in the last chapter now and it has all the hallmarks of a sequel that is part one of two, making the series a trilogy. F'lar's plans are growing, the grubs are proliferating, and the Holder Nobody Likes is up to some Shit but we don't know what yet.

#pjwolfrereads #Dragonquest Also one thing that I find interesting about the book is the point of view keeps shifting between characters mid-chapter. It will start with one person, then shift without warning to another person's head.

I think this sort of thing is frowned upon nowadays.

#pjwolfrereads #Dragonquest I'm pretty sure I remember Robinton being a fan-favorite character, and I think the reason why is that he's a manipulative dick... but for good.

#pjwolfrereads #Dragonquest Side note, with this disaster I'm unsure what this book is ultimately saying about sex. If it's saying anything about sex, it may be unintentional. Kylara was looked at with suspicion because she slept around a LOT, but also dragonriders are sluttier due to their dragons

#pjwolfrereads #Dragonquest OK so a few things have happened for those keeping track. In effect, a coup happened and F'lar took over leadership of the Weyrs. T'ron is alive but exiled to Southern Weyr so whatever he's on is effectively isolated from the main population of Pern.
