I love the tight middle
partings
have always worn
them like to feel
my brain's alert
at times it almost
hurts the head
to be in tension
see how I clench
my fists in unison
I love the neat control
of hair
in middle partings

Exploratory

as children
that's how
we considered
the rocky shoreline
where we lived

a small range
of mountains
further inland

the forest
clambering up
its lower slopes
we spoke two
languages

you and I kissed
and called each
other "cariad"
listening to Bach
years later exploring

Main Ingredients

I scramble desperately
Through the last few scraps
At the back of the cabinets
Certain there must be something
Still left in my cupboard,
Some scrap of joy?
Or are we all out?
I'd gladly take contentment.
You can substitute it in the recipe
If you don't mind being creative.
Or fleeting happiness, even,
Any of that left?
A taste? A tablespoon? A crumb?
Well.
I'll add them to the shopping list
If they ever come off back order.
For now all I'm finding,
At the back
The hardest spot to reach
Is all that Pandora had left
When she slammed the lid
On the box she's always blamed for opening.
(Who put the rest of that nonsense
In an unlocked box anyway?
Without a warning label?)
But anyway.
I guess I need to find out now:
What can we make with hope?

Different

Would it be different,
if #knowledge was possessed?

Would it #mean anything,
if power had been accessed?

Would that shift the ending,
if time hadn’t been abused?

Unknown,
Can’t know,
too painful to consider.

Stepping willingly into a fool's paradise... Billy Collins connects wisdom to humour, leaving us with much to think about. In The Breather (the pun in the title is fantastic), he talks about the foolish and memorable pursuit of unrequited love.

Poetry AND April Fool's Day! What a fantastic combination! "Stepping willingly into a fool's paradise..." www.deccanherald.com/features/boo... #AprilFool #AprilFools #AprilFoolsDay #Poetrry
