#posthole sounds like such a good way to bring awareness to this issue
We should start an awareness campaign. Maybe something as simple as posting about that hole with a hash tag. These things often need some sort of visual aid to take off. Maybe something like #posthole with an image of the affected area to really drive it home.

A dark grey burnished sherd of Roman pottery
Part of a orangey red Roman roof tile with a pawprint
We are also getting some lovely #burnishedware sherds from the ditch nearby, contemporary with the #posthole? And a super #tileprint... animal or human? #communityarchaeology #GreenwichPark #TheRoyalParks @uclarchaeology.bsky.social 🌳🏛️❤️👍🏻
The #posthole mentioned above continues to be a source of fresh unabraded #pottery sherds on an abridged day 14 due to rain... giving time for some finds processing! This is a lovely little #samian sherd ❤️ #GreenwichPark #communityarchaeology 🏛️🌳

Drawing of a sequence of events showing a (pre-)historic man digging a hole and setting a wooden post into it, the post decaying over time, leaving nothing but a shadow and the soil imprint if the dug pit - excavated by an archaeologist.
"Your Majesty, there's nothing more permanent than a hole!", archaeologist Carl Schuchardt once explained the principle of the #posthole to Emperor Wilhelm II.
