Singing to babies improves their mood Singing to your infant can significantly boost the baby’s mood, according to a recent Yale study published May 28 in Child Development. Around the world and across cultures, singing to babies seems to come instinctively to caregivers. Now, new findings support that singing is an easy, safe, and free way to help improve the mental well-being of infants. Because improved mood in infancy is associated with a greater quality of life for both parents and babies, this in turn has benefits for the health of the entire family, the researchers say. The study also helps explain why musical behaviors may have evolved in parents.

Being a psychologist/counselor always made therapy fun because I could poke at my therapist and go “I know what you’re doing, I see it, and I hate that it’s actually working”

Deflective Egotism as a Form of Projection | Daniel Brynmor It is not the individual who expresses a positive fact about themselves that exhibits egotistical tendencies. Rather, it is the person who unjustifiably feels threatened and offended by that individual’s self-confidence. Their very act of taking offence reveals their egocentric view of themselves. They are insecure and overly concerned with how they compare to others.… Read More »Deflective Egotism as a Form of Projection

The Dark Side of Social Standards | Daniel Brynmor Mores and folkways shape cultural expectations, regardless of their position on the hypothetical moral spectrum. But what exactly are they? People consider a norm to be innocuous. It establishes a standard that dictates whether an act is permissible or to be avoided. I would prefer to label this standard as a Universally Accepted Confirmation Bias.… Read More »The Dark Side of Social Standards
