With everything going on, I was terrified at first about what was going to happen to them, but then...it was so wonderful and just hit me so hard #puddling.

Hairstreak butterflies have tails which can fool predators like birds into biting off a chunk of wing/s rather than the head, and sparing his/her life. This little California Hairstreak I saw in Northern CA on Tuesday survived thanks to that brilliant deception.
