So in the end my #PWC2018 score was 24 points down on last year (although only 3 sp). It lacked a bit in terms of rarities, but there were still some nice birds seen. Non-photographed highlights included WB Diver in January, Marsh Warbler in May & Greenish Warbler in August.
Last patch visit of the year draws a blank, so I finish #pwc2018 on 137spp/160pts. Not my worse year at Collingham & Besthorpe despite a big drop in visits (88 vs 5 year average of 119), and found 3 patch ticks - Bearded Tit, Grey Phal and Velvet Scoter.
2 Waxwings v briefly at Collingham Pits next to adult Lagoon then flew W towards Carlton on Trent. Called as I got out of the car, then they were off! #pwc2018 @NottsBirders @NottsBirdingHQ

Was thinking #pwc2018 would be the year I miss Spotted Fly on the patch, due to far less regular visits, but two in the willows at Mons Pool made my morning! Also Hobby and a few Mipits on the move #birdingwithbaby

Another cursory Saturday morning look at the patch with the little one, 1 Greenshank and 1 Green Sand the only waders of note... a Grey Wag over S was at least new for #pwc2018
Did our first patch seawatch of the autumn this evening, and the highlights just over an hour at Hadston Carrs were 2 Sooty Shearwaters, 39 Manx Shearwaters and single Arctic and Great Skuas, as well as a patch record flock of 6 Goosanders. #PWC2018

Yesterday morning we had an unusual warbler singing from thick scrub on the east side of Druridge Bay Country Park. Have had a chance to listen my recordings, and with others advice, we’re now pretty certain it was a Marsh Warbler! #PWC2018 @ElliottatChev
