Just got a call from someone I've known for 35+ yrs that went full-MAGA. Just got laid off. Job was dependent on a now-cancelled Fed contract. He is asking advice as he's <2 mo away from complete financial ruin.
I want to go full-IFTYS, but how can I bring him into the fold instead?

I have a permanent limp because I fractured the top of my tibia inside the knee 17 years ago. No insurance, so I just limped home and went to work the next day.
I finally went to the hospital 3 weeks later when I saw random bruising under the fracture.
It had already healed wrong.
