It is built on the same unstable clay layers that led to the catastrophic failure of the #MountPolleyDam in 2014. Despite this, and repeated fines for failed monitoring, its expansion is being fast-tracked.

An investigation by the #SkeenaWildConservationTrust revealed the mine is releasing significantly more contaminated seepage, with toxins like #selenium and #copper, than predicted into the local #watershed.
