A war memorial engraved with the words: "This stone erected by public subscription to the gallant men of 617 Dambuster SQD., RAF who successfully breached the dams of Western Germany in World War II using the bouncing bomb devised by Barnes Wallace. Derwent Dam was chosen due its close resemblance to the the German dams for intensive low level practice and bomb aiming techniques. THEY PAID FOR OUR FREEDOM" There is an RAF flag to the left of the photograph and poppy wreaths around the memorial.
