Combined snow & rain events make it difficult to predict river flow, as the melt can result in a sudden increase - the Mole flow rate at Gatwick is now approaching 8m3/s which pretty high!

Nitrate next. This one is done on a marine detector and has 20% NaCl solution added. There’s also a factor applied to the results. For now the reading is 18.7ppm.

Back indoors. Next job is to check the storm discharge map provided by Thames Water to see if sewage has been released in this stretch in the last 48hrs. And the results are… phew.
