A crossroads between two north/south side roads—Richmond Road and Green Street—and the Romford Road. One-way cycle tracks on both sides of Romford Road. The top arm of the junction is now closed to general traffic, with a section of shared pavement and rain gardens. Shared pedestrian/cycle traffic light crossings on the western, eastern, and southern arms of the junctions. Zebra crossings over the cycle track on the southern side.
AND THERE'S MORE! Work starting on the actual junction of Green St/Richmond Rd also on 2nd February. This is going to be so much safer for walking and cycling, even with the shared-use bodge—and unbelievably the other junctions coming later are even better! 🎉 @newhamcouncil.bsky.social #RomfordRoad
Detailed design drawings for with-flow protected cycle tracks on a 3-lane road, with 1 eastbound car lane, 1 westbound car lane and 1 westbound bus lane. The cycle tracks are continuous and in a straight line. The side road junctions at Rosedale Road and Birchdale Road are continuous pavements, where the cycleway and footway are continuous and on humps with no tactile markings, instead with clear priority for pedestrians and cyclists with drivers required to give way.
Continuation of the same road from the first picture, with the cycleways and pavement still continuous over side roads at Nigel Road and Quakers Place. The cycle track bends inward to pass behind a bus stop on the south side of the road. The bus stop island is accessed using a zebra crossing.
More continuation of the drawing from the previous image, this time running to the extent of this section of works just east of Shrewsbury Road. The Shrewsbury Road side road junction is also continuous. There is another bus stop bypass on the north side. There is a long zebra crossing on a raised table over both the cycleways and carriageway just east of Shrewsbury Road. There is a small rain garden on the bus stop island.

Exciting news from #RomfordRoad, where large amounts of cycle track have now been surfaced. We understand they should open in the coming weeks (still to be decided if it needs to wait for blue surfacing at the junctions.) Fingers crossed for more cycleways for Christmas? 🎄

TfL have awarded Newham £3m funding from the Local Implementation Plan for 2025/26: content.tfl.gov.uk/newham-lip-l... including explicit funds for sections E and F on #RomfordRoad, and Woodgrange, Green St and Katherine Rd junctions. Hopefully this means the pace of work can begin to pick up!
