While stupid things are said about (recent) military #history, the 179th Anniversary of #Isandlwana & #RorkesDrift (#Zulu) took place yesterday & brave people fighting for their Kings and Countries were honoured.
Big love to the Diehards Living History Group for this photo.
Today is the anniversary of the Battle for Rorke's Drift. Having grown up watching the brilliant film "Zulu" (dir. Cy Endfield, 1964), it's where the film was shot rather than the actual battlefield that I would most like to visit one day.

Zulu Night - January 23, 2011 at The Red Lion Pub Lincoln Square.
Bill Parry, the chap in the full South Wales Borderers uniform, dropped a replica Zulu assegai on (through) his foot later that evening, which impaled him to the wood deck outside his house 😂

It is here the british crossed into Zulu Land on the 11th January 1879.
In the film "Zulu" we first see Lieutenant Chard building a bridge at this location.
