I'd really hit rock bottom in Usk, what a beautiful now felt like living hell and I just wanted it end. I refuelled with a Costa in the garage in Chepstow, gave myself a kick up the arse and carried on. TBH, I had no choice.... #cycling #audax #RoughDiamond

Into Wales I went, for a flat ride it was notably hilly in places. One such stretch was from Hay to Talybont. I was at control #2 and it was now 4:30pm. At this point I wasn't unduly worried as I had 20hrs to do it in... #cycling #audax #RoughDiamond

Lunchtime came around abd it was 12:30 but rather than push on to Hay on Wye I decided to stop in Shobdon and grab a meal deal in Londis as there was a play park with benches next door. Arrived in Hay around 2hrs later.... #cycling #audax #RoughDiamond

Top of the diamond now and crossed into Shropshire at Tenbury Wells, and shortly after stopped at the Burford House cafe control.... #cycling #audax #RoughDiamond

Heading on up the first crossing of the river Severn was at Worcester where I stopped for a refuel after the first 3hrs riding and again at Upton on Teme to get my breath back, I wasn't expecting that climb! #cycling #audax #RoughDiamond

With hasty hotel bedroom breakfast of oats it was down to the start line in Tewkesbury for 6am and off to the first control in Elmley Castle. I also stopped for a quick photo in Pershore on the way through... #cycling #audax #RoughDiamond
