It’s weird duck season in Boston! The #ringneckedducks #ruddyducks and #americancoots are back in Chestnut Hill Reservoir! Along with two #piedbilledgrebes, a #yellowbelliedsapsucker, and a few #goldencrownedkinets

They feed most actively at night, so you’ll often see #ruddyducks sleeping during the day, head tucked under a wing and tail cocked up. They mainly eat seeds and roots of aquatic plants, aquatic insects and crustaceans. These birds dive and swim underwater.
