The #GreatJamaicanSlaveRevolt, aka #BaptistWar, began on #ThisDayInHistory in 1831. Led by Deacon #SamuelSharpe, 20% of #Jamaica's slave population revolted. Despite British brutality, with 100s executed by the planters, the rebellion's scale pushed London towards #emancipation.
