Englishman’s Foot I know the name will put people off, not easy to pronounce But there’s orgasmic cheesy flavour in every single ounce Eating someone’s foot is not something we should denounce And if you ever see this amazing cheese you need to quickly pounce I love the idea of so many French people eating English feet If you haven’t tried this amazing cheese your life is not complete It’s light and creamy but extremely complex, brie cannot compete It carries on ripening in the packaging to make a very tasty treat With Brie you take it out of the fridge one hour before eating it But this one needs two hours before the flavour will really hit So giving extra time to develop improves the taste I must admit But can I resist temptation that long? Will I bide my time or quit? It’s called Pié d'Angloys, all the way from Burgundy in France And if you have an opportunity you really should take the chance I really love my charming wife, she makes me want to dance And I can’t marry a cheese, of course, but it feels like a romance I see that circle of joy in the fridge, it feels like a come-on One day it’s sitting there flirting with me, the next day it’s all gone If Brie is the ugly duckling then Pié d'Angloys is the white swan So raise a glass with me to Savencia, Burgundy and Yonne Roger the Dodger 17th August 2025
When you do a poem based on it being made at #Yonne in #Burgundy, then find out afterwards that #Savencia have subsequently moved production to Meslay-du-Maine in the Mayenne department in north-western #France
Never mind, onwards and upwards 😊
