Last night, a fire broke out, damaging some of Fortingall’s historic thatched cottages, built over 130 years ago as part of a visionary restoration project. Located in the stunning Glen Lyon valley in Perthshire, Scotland, Fortingall was transformed in the late 19th century by Sir Donald Currie, who enlisted architect James MacLaren to create these picturesque Arts & Crafts-style cottages. Inspired by Scottish medieval architecture, they became one of Scotland’s most iconic and historically significant model villages. This fire is a heartbreaking loss for our heritage. Efforts are underway to assess the damage and plan for restoration. Our thoughts are with everyone affected. 💔
