A very warm scene. It's late in the afternoon and we're on moorland looking almost directly towards a sun in the process of setting over the distant countryside of low, gently-rolling, layered hills. The ground is grassy and filled with sedge or gorse reaching knee-height in places, but it's late in the year so the general colouration is towards brown and that's accentuated by the low sun ahead washing out any more vibrant colours. A cow is a few metres in front and has its head down to eat from the land. The cows hooves are buried in the dense undergrowth and the animal is backlit from the sun with mostly just its outline glowing as the hairs on its coat catch the pale golden light. It's a very calm, quiet shot with gentle, late-year sunshine on our faces.

Celebrating the Earth presents: The Chagford Wassail! Join us on Ore Hill in Chagford on Saturday, 7 February -- gahering just inside the gate (off New Street) at 2:30 pm. Help us 'wake up' the apple trees in the traditional way with music, song, folklore and frolics! Bring drums or pots & pans to bang, and a cup for apple juice or cider. Everyone is welcome, young and old! (But strictly no dogs please, due to sheep with lambs in the field.)
