The partial U-turn on business rates by the Government still leaves many businesses vulnerable, as does inaction by local councils who have agreed to offer support but to date appear to have done very little.

In the pub earlier there was some chat about a pub in Woolwich that has been taken over at some point and lost its classic features, namely: a fish tank, an iguana tank, and a presentation box with one of Steven Gerrard’s football boots in it. #saveourpubs

Yesterday, I visited The Railway Inn in Williton to meet with owners Matthew and Lisa.

VAT, minimum wage increases, and the business rates system have put pressure on business operations.
