Post week-and-a-half trip’s duration
Of lunar and space exploration…

Welcome back, valiant crew,

Two roles, both chem-crucial, aligned here,
In artistic combo’s reminder;
Blend a bright-vivid tint
With an adhesive’s stint:
A paint is a pigment plus binder.

As putative figment,
With color scheme, speedily fading.

Looking at this photo, you're struck by the windowsill in front, with the country lane winding through the green outside and that low gray house on the right. The yellow flowers on the sill really highlight the contrast between the dark room and the bright landscape. It all feels like a scene from an old memory.

My mother’s voice,
a distant summons.

Blades of light
piercing the dark.

White coats,
deep pain.

Circles on water,
the same yet different.

Shiver on the skin.

Atoms of life
crystallized
in memory.

— For my mother

We see more M make slow speed,
light heat make thick hot layer,
more micro make more spin near wall.
Also, hot from electric and warm
from move make more hot,
so need in work like earth heat take, oil get, and hot change machine
in hole thing."

A poem by JL Tooker (aka jlynn) written over a NASA image of the Egg Nebula; The poem reads: no AI / no paint no chalk no line / a star / hurling itself toward unmaking / light breaking through dust / a mark / in the dark. The image: In the centre an opaque cloud of grey gas hides a star. Two strong beams of light from the star emerge from large holes in both sides of the cloud. The central cloud is surrounded by concentric, wispy shells of gas, illuminated by the star’s light. The shells reflect extra light where they’re hit by the twin beams. A crowd of smaller stars with cross-shaped spikes over them surround the nebula on a black background.

Which came first--the egg or the universe?

On his kiss my gloom
deliquesced to a puddle
Me, too.

He painted
an elm deliquescing
its branches
upon my trunk.
The results
tickled us both.

I was fungal;
he fungi,
our bodies fruited.
As we tired
we deliquesced
back to earth.

'They saw them on their dishes when eating': The mushroom making people hallucinate dozens of tiny humans Only recently described by science, the mysterious mushrooms are found in different parts of the world, but they give people the same exact visions.

Ode to #Lanmaoa asiatica

Boletes found under pines
are delectable- but taken raw,
will make you see little people
(like the Nac Mac Feegle)
running on your clothes,
your plate, the floor, a trip
to drive anyone up the wall.

Borrowing its title from the PhD of Brian May, Nathan Curnow's 'A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud' marries the wonder and vertigo of scientific discovery with that of music making.

A “NOVEL” Story of Life in Salt

In a soft and salty embrace

You were hiding

In oblivion

But deep down

wanting to be found

and known

Who knows

if you found me

or I found you

But YOU tiny life

Destined to be known

It’s a story of your survival

And a redefinition

of my work

as you came

and changed

the whole course of it

I gave you a microcosm

Stressed

And depressed

Like a bygone Mars?

Like I was searching for you

You grew

Not one

Not two

But three of you

And science

will come to know you

With a name and a personality

For the very first time

In its entire lifetime

Your existence

Evolving in pigments

Yellows and whites

And reds

You love all

whether its sodium chloride

or epsomite

and that makes you bright

and you can also hide

for an indefinite time?

because spores you got

and your genes say a lot

about your dormant plot

and the ancient style of sustenance of you all

As much salty is planet Mars

As apt you are

To have flowed in the brines of early Mars?

So yes

a lot

is yet to be thought

But YOU

Will always be the offspring of AstrobiologyOU

And

You are mine

For eternity

Volcanologists study eruptions.
Vulcanologists study restraint.

One reads magma’s moods,
the other channels logic through pressure.

Both wear heat like a second skin.
Only one is surprised when it explodes.
