A hand holding a ball about the size of a tennis ball. The ball is made of colorful yarn, stitched all over the surface with a buttonhole stitch. There's a flower with a red center and purple petals, and part of a blue curve on a green background.

Another view of the yarn ball. The craft comes from Sweden and uses scrap yarns. It is called a singlade ball.

Another view of the singlade ball. Traditionally, geometric designs are mostly common. In this project, I am experimenting with ways to create more organic, curvilinear forms on the surface of the ball. I "sketched" my design with a chainstitch outline before starting the buttonhole stitching that comprises most of the surface.

The core of the ball is made of scrap wool and yarn, wrapped with other yarn ends to the desired size. The surface stitching on this singlade ball uses wool and wool/silk blend knitting and needlepoint yarns.

I made a fancy singlade ball! I created the curvy lines by chainstitching my guidelines and starting my looping/nalbinding/buttonhole stitch from those.

A tailor's ham and sausage (used for pressing curved seams seams/ironing) made from the same black material with a red apple print. They are both in front of a sewing machine.

I needed a tailor's ham for an upcoming project, so I made one (and a sausage!) utilizing a tutorial from Tilly and the Buttons. It was a great way to get rid of a bunch of scraps that I'd been collecting. #sewsky #scrapcraft
