the shortest straw (an aubade) we grasp at straws in dreams the shortest selected and nearest to wakefulness; recalling the substance of sincere light through polarized glass the sunrise beams breaking apart against her supple velvet cinnamon legs wrapped around my waist as we greet the morning with our own lovely sinful rising where tongues taste each others wakeful moods and gripping tension is released within the satin folds of sleeps edge for a brief moment i live within the smudged corners of that dreaming bliss then fully waking with a start to a mostly darkened room, sharpening with the dawn the birds outside chirp and mock as the solitary sun peeks through the cracks in the blinds he is my biographer and my only companion, save for the shortest straw, clutched.
