More of a #diagram than a #map, the #Nebra #skydisc may have had both a practical and #astronomical purpose as well as religious significance for the people of the European #Bronzeage. It is the oldest concrete depiction of #astronomical #phenomena known from anywhere in the #world.

This is dated between 1800-1600 b.c. early bronze age. It was found near Nebra Germany. It is the nebra sky disc. It is one of the oldest depictions of astronomy. It depicts either the sun, or moon both full and crescent and pleides.

A single silver/bright blue earring stud with golden flecks resting on a garter stitch shawl in progress.

A single silver/bright blue earring stud with golden flecks resting on a garter stitch shawl in progress.

New pair of enamel/silver studs by my favourite #Orkney designer Sheila Fleet, reminding me of a favourite #prehistoric artifact, the #Skydisc of #Nebra.
Health wise slightly worse, lost 3kg in two weeks, sleep pattern non-existing, eating remains a struggle.

The Sky Disc - Nebra Lunar New Year's Clock/Calendar - dcwalley.com tl;dr: It’s a technical instrument for synchronizing a lunar calendar to the seasons. It’s all about the last full Moon of the lunar year! Nebra Disc Decoded 2024 May According to Wikipedia: The Nebra...

The #nebra #skydisc encodes a procedure for determining if a new year requires a leap lunar month, or not. The once-a-year procedure starts SOON with next Half #Moon (known officially as the "first quarter moon"), when it sets. This happens in Pisces, as depicted on the disc.

Well, that and the #Nebra #SkyDisc of course (which has become kind of an icon for the museum).

No photos - it‘s too dark in there anyway (curious how many people ran into something in that chamber), but this older journal sketch should do it (that thing hasn‘t changed much 😉).
