A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, for Aitkin, Ashland, Bayfield, Carlton, Cook, Douglas, Iron, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, Pine, and St. Louis counties. These areas of the Northland will see some minor ice and/or snow accumulation that will lead to slick road conditions as the storm system passes through the region.
Ice accumulation from the mixed precipitation we see passing through the Northland Monday night and Tuesday morning will be highest the farther east you live, with up to one-tenth of an inch of accumulation. Most of the region will see at least a bit of sleet or freezing rain, leading to a trace or glaze of ice accumulation.
Snowfall from the storm system passing through the Northland Monday night and Tuesday morning will be up to 1 inch for most locations, other than the most southern counties in the region. Over 1 inch is possible in the Rainy River Basin and Boundary Waters regions.
