A view of a model run over the Northland at 5 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026, shows a mix of rain, sleet, and snow showers, over parts of the region. The overall forecast for the region Monday will be a dry morning, then a cluster of precipitation forming during the afternoon hours over the region. It will work through the Northland from west to east. Exact placement will need to be figured out Monday morning, but the best guidance for now is to take place along Highway 2 and south.
Overall, this system is not a big precipitation event. Total new snowfall across the Northland Monday and Monday night will be 1 to 2 inches over northwest Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula, with up to 1 inch in northeast Minnesota.
With the mix of rain, sleet, and snow showers possible in the Northland Monday afternoon and evening, we would see up to one-tenth of an inch of new ice accumulation on roadways and surfaces where this occurs. As of Sunday afternoon, the best guidance for this to occur is northwest Wisconsin and the I-35 Corridor regions.
