What was that? She stopped swimming, bringing her tail around to halt her forward momentum. It was a tough maneuver, even out as far as she was. Splashing and bringing attention to herself wouldn’t be the best. Don’t stop. Not safe. Lina closed her eyes, human reason winning out over animal instinct just long enough for her to get her barings. St George’s sea shelf extended about four miles out from shore, progressively getting deeper until you came to the drop off. Which very much dropped off. She had a ways to go to be sure, so the space to whip her tail without causing a visible surface splash was minimal at best. Open water, not safe.. Well that’s slightly more specific. She opened her eyes and swiveled her head back and forth, looking for signs of danger. Had it been too long since she’d been out? But the water was calm, despite the gray hues reflected from the sky. Nothing came this close to land that should trigger a reaction this strong. A school of dolphins were a little ways off, minding themselves… and a diver.
