It's actually not that difficult. For my current setup I'm using:

- #NiagaraLauncher
- #SmartLauncher Icon Pack studio
- #KWGT widgets
- #yowindow Live Wallpaper

All simplistic, easy and ever changing without much battery performance.

I'm giving #SmartLauncher a spin. It's not bad and I was able to get pretty close to the way I have #NovaLauncher setup. That said SmartLauncher has a ways to go especially with customization options.
