Not far from Lima,
where city lights usually blur the night sky.
But the Milky Way was incredible,
a clear sky,
and stars shining like never before.

Last light warms the high summits.
The remote Cordillera Huayhuash slowly sinks into the dark,
pushing us toward our tent and sleeping bags.
It’s already cold in the valley.
