#DeadTrees - while perhaps a third of the #Oaks in the Inner Park have lost “limbs” in the recent storms (eg #StormFloris) thanks to being in full leaf and carrying copious Acorns, the Dead Oak Tree has stood firm even though riddled with insect burrows and of course a favourite of Woodpeckers.

This very weathered, much-bored by all sorts of insects, huge Ash Burr fell off this Ash #tree in #StormFloris.

Far too gone for use as potential Ash veneer in furniture. The whorly structure is fascinating.

It was on a branch, rather than the main trunk, so I guess caused by an insect originally.

⛅ #StormFloris was the 6th & final storm this season. After a period of pleasant weather, Storm #Floris brought unseasonably low pressure early August.
